Today is Blog Action Day #BAD09. A worldwide event where bloggers from around the world use their keyboards to express their voices on the controversial topic of Climate Change.
So these are the questions that pop the most around the matter:
What is climate change?
Are we responsible for Global Warming?
What can we do about it?
In the end, the answer is simple: Just like any disease, sickness or addiction, the first step toward finding the cure is being AWARE. The process can not begin without the mere realization that something is not working accordingly and that behavioral adjustments are much needed, even thought we might not get to benefit from our contributions directly. I'm no expert in the matter, but I was raised in Perú, I have this gene to preserve and save. I also believe that we are all good at something unique. Identifying that superpower can benefit the world, one stroke at the time. Find that in you, and give up just a little bit of what you are accustomed to. We are creatures of habit, so after a quick while, you will not miss it anymore and it will become part of your code.
If you love to paint, design, blog or write, then use it toward benefiting the world. There is a lot we can do besides just turning the light off or riding our bike to work.
I invite creatives from all over the world to help generate an awareness/viral campaign that can one educate people everywhere of the sevirity of this issue as well as speak in terms we can all understand and feel related to. Part of the challenge is that to many of us this problem is too far removed, too far away to create an instant reaction. Let's make a campaign that speaks to humans, not scientist. A campaign that propels behavioral shift versus friction. I'm sure this is viable. I just recently saw a
campaign by VW that speaks to the soul and that resembles the best way to promote consumers to change daily habits.
It shouldn't be that hard, and in the end it will be more gratifying than any campaign we have ever worked on.
Enjoy today, because today can be a very good day!
